Can I move/re-locate my slimline storage heater?

When relocating a slimline storage heater, there are some things which need to be considered:

  • Consideration must be given to the heaters new location. For example, do the clearances meet the installation requirements?  Will the wall and floor materials support the weight of the product? What wall fixings will be required for the type of wall? i.e. brick/plasterboard etc. Is solar gain likely to affect the temperature readings?

  • Has the new location recently been decorated? NOTE airborne contaminants such as paint fumes may be drawn into the heater, it is recommended that the area be well ventilated prior to use.

  • Does the new location contain the required electrical connections? Are the isolation switches and fuse protection for the circuit correctly rated for the product?

  • All electrical work must be carried out by a qualified person

  • The wiring to the terminal block inside the heater MUST be connected correctly and tightened to the torque tightness specified in the Manufacturer’s Instructions

  • The heater will need to be re-installed in its new location in accordance with the Manufacturer’s Installation Instructions. We would recommend downloading a copy from www.Dimplex.co.uk, and becoming familiar with the heater assembly, that all cover screws are retained and used is their rightful place, that the insulation is tucked in accordingly and not pinched by brick positioning, and element tails are positioned correctly.

  • The core will require care deconstruction prior to moving the heater, ensuring the bricks are cold before attempting to do this. The bricks should be stored in a dry location until the core is rebuilt. NOTE: There may be visible signs of deterioration to the insulation covering, for example tears, rips etc, however, providing the insulation contained within the covering shows no signs of crumbling, it remains safe to use. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE PRODUCT WITH THE BRICKS STILL WITHIN IT.

  • When moving the heater ensure that the elements are secure and supported in order to prevent damage, and that any and all material used to do this is removed when the core is rebuilt
