How do I change the battery on my Quantum heater? (Heater disabled, or clock time / date not remembered)

This information is only applicable to Quantum heaters series G5/G6/G7/G8/G9/G10/G11/G12/G13/G14/Y/Z

If your Quantum RF heater forgets the current date/time after being powered off, or the heater says "Heater disabled", then the backup battery on the heater may need replacing. This does not need to be done immediately, as you can simply enter the current date and time, and then the heater will continue to operate, providing the peak mains supply remains switched on and live.

The Quantum storage heater is fitted with a replaceable CR2032 battery in the user interface. This battery controls the on-board clock to keep real time should the peak power supply be cut from the heater.

To change the battery, carry out the steps below:

  1. 1. Ensure that mains is isolated from the heater. There may be one, or two mains switches supplying power to the heater. Ensure all switches are switched off! The screen must be dead with nothing on screen.

  2. 2. Push a small, flat headed screwdriver into the opening on the right-hand side of the User Interface (Fig. 1) to release the retention clip.

  1. 3. Lift the User Interface module out, away from the heater, being careful not to damage the cable

  1. 4. Unscrew the battery cover (Fig. 2) to gain access to the battery holder.

  1. 5. Use a small, flat headed screwdriver to remove the battery from the battery holder and replace the battery, observing the correct polarity of the battery!

  1. 6. Replace the battery access cover.

  1. 7. Push the User Interface module back into place, again avoiding damage to the cable.
